About Us

The Bridge Interpretive Services was founded in 2011 by Mr. Uriel E. Rivera. Mr. Rivera, Founder/CEO, is a graduate of Miami Dade College with an Associate in Science in E.M.S and he also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance & Economics from the University of Miami.

He began his career in the EMS field as a paramedic/firefighter in Miami, FL where he served his community for 10 years. After relocating to TN with his family in 1995, Mr. Rivera held the position of Account Manager for US Bank. Mr. Rivera realized that being bilingual with a background in the medical field put him in a prime position to serve his new community as an interpreter in a multi-disciplinary setting. Mr. Rivera was the Director of Interpretive Services at an area hospital for 4 years before founding The Bridge Interpretive Services. Mr. Rivera and his staff have undergone very rigorous language training in various industries. Mr. Rivera and a number of his staff members are distinguished in the field of medical interpreters obtaining the prestigious Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) certification from the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. The National Board has an accredited and rigorous certification program for medical interpreters that require applicants pass both a written and oral exam to ensure competence to interpret in the medical field. Mr. Rivera and a number of his staff members are also credentialed to interpret in a legal setting by the TN Supreme Court. Obtaining certification from the Supreme Court; a certification which also requires passing a series rigorous written and oral exams to ensure competence to interpret in a legal setting.

As a credentialed court interpreters Mr Rivera and his staff members are instrumental in helping the court system carry out its mission of due process, equal protection and access to justice; playing a key role in helping the courts and legal professionals communicate with individuals who are limited English proficient. Certified court interpreters are a part of a select group of specially trained professionals as certification requires passing a series rigorous written and oral exams to ensure competence to interpret in a legal setting.
